Rules & Restrictions
Fly Fishing permitted
- From 1st April to 15th June from the electric pylon fence immediately
above the top weir downstream to the the junction of the River Blackwater.
- From 16th June to 30th September fly fisherman may fish from the electric
pylon fence immediately above the top weir downstream to the Hatchgate bridge.
- From 16th June to 30th September fly fisherman may fish from the hatch
gate bridge downstream to the junction of the River Blackwater, but
noting this is shared with course anglers who must be given priority access
during this period.
- Fly Fishing Season 1st April to September 30th inclusive.
Requirements for Access
- No access unless in possession of a valid membership permit.
- Members must clearly display their vehicle F&DAS club logo pass at all
times before accessing the river.
- Vehicle parking available only in designated areas.
Members must not park on neighbouring farmland property.
- Please keep to river course when accessing river, do not at any time
stray, and avoid completely farming crops. Shut all gates. Ensure electric
fences are kept operational.
- No day or guest tickets.
- Members are required to act as bailiffs and check for valid membership.
- For the period where fly fishing is permitted, below the Hatchgate bridge
to the fence line of the houses upstream of the Riseley Mill, (ie Park Farm
Land) the society is now leasing the opposite bank, hence fishing is available
on both banks. At present we have not agreed any additional parking, so access
to the opposite bank can be obtained by wading across only from our main bank.
- All farms that border our river are our friends. Please do not do anything
that can be misconstrued to upset the farmers, and respect their requests at
all times.
Fly Fishing rules
- Upstream Fly Fishing only
- Catch and release of all fish.
- Fly and nymph only
- Max hook size 12
- All hooks to be barbless, confirm by woolly jumper test prior to use.
- Wading maybe required in some areas, but please keep to minimum
- Fishing and access dawn to dusk only
Litter
- All litter whether it be yours or not to be collected and taken home.
- Remove leader line from banks or when snagged in trees to prevent danger
to wildlife.
Environmental Agency Rod Licence
- Members are reminded that prior to putting a fishing rod to use, an EA Rod
Licence is mandatory. Rod Licences are readily available from Post Offices or
via E.A.website.
